| The Pan Community Wardens are one of the project based roles that Pan Neighbourhood Partnership has funded, and to date has proved one of the most successful areas of the Pathfinder. The Pan Community Wardens are a visible presence on Pan whose aim is to improve quality of life for Pan Residents. Their roles require them to work with the entire community, young or old, and they have also forged strong links with schools, resident groups and service providers who work on Pan. The Wardens work hard to feed back resident concerns to the correct service providers so that they can work effectively towards gaining a better understanding of resident needs and providing better services. The community wardens also work to increase community confidence and security and reduce the fear of crime as a visible presence on Pan, facilitate environmental improvements to make Pan a greener, cleaner place, and to promote well being and social awareness as positive role models. Wardens Projects: Some of the Wardens ideas which have had great success are: Rubbish Amnesty: The Pan Community Wardens organised three free skips to be placed in locations around Pan where residents can get rid of rubbish, which have collectively removed circa 10 tonnes of rubbish. Free White Goods Removal: in 2006 the Pan Community Wardens organised for a white goods removal where residents were able to get rid of old fridges, freezers, washing machines and microwaves which could be recycled. 86 items were taken away in February 2006. Summer Holdays Activities: the wardens provide activities for young people during the summer holdays which have included: rounders, kite flying, blanket volley ball and giant connect four. |
